The original five Scuba Fifty Fathoms models each celebrated one of Earth's five oceans. The Ocean of Storms — known by its Latin name Oceanus Procellarum — is different in every sense. It is not an ocean of water but an ocean of mystery, ancient volcanic plains and lunar shadow stretching across one of the most visually dramatic regions of the Moon's surface. Its inclusion in the Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection is one of the most creatively audacious and collector-delighting decisions Swatch and Blancpain have made since the collaboration launched — and it has immediately become the most talked-about and sought-after model in the entire lineup.
The black Bioceramic case and crown are as dramatic and commanding as the subject matter demands — a deep, authoritative matte black finish that makes every other model in the collection look restrained by comparison. The dial carries a black sunbrushed finish, creating a surface that shifts between deep space darkness and subtle reflective shimmer depending on the angle of light — a genuinely mesmerising effect that no static photograph can fully capture. The transparent sapphire display back showcases the SISTEM51 movement decorated with a digital print of the Oceanus Procellarum region of the Moon itself — the full lunar mare captured in extraordinary detail on the oscillating rotor, turning with every movement of the wrist — alongside an illustration of the Okenia Luna, the nudibranch chosen to represent this model. Named for the moon itself, the Okenia Luna is a dorid nudibranch with a broad body and up to twelve pairs of lateral papillae — its defining feature a milky, luminescent colouring with glowing tips that inspired its lunar name, making it the most poetically perfect choice in the entire collection. The black NATO strap is constructed from recycled fishing nets removed from the sea — colour-coordinated to the Ocean of Storms' all-black palette and finished with black Bioceramic pin buckle and loops for a seamlessly monochromatic look from case to clasp.
